Meet the Borowskys...
Hailed by the
international press as “American Virtuosi,” the Borowsky family has been
praised world-wide for their outstanding musicianship. The members of this exceptionally
musical family have won their way into the hearts of millions of people through
their concerts in Americas, Asia, Middle East, and Europe; radio and television
performances; and recordings.
“Like a Baltimore version of the Family von Trapp, the Borowsky family entertains audiences around the world with their classical music performances.” (Baltimore Style Magazine).
Prestigious musical, social, and cultural organizations in the USA and abroad have honored them with numerous awards and distinctions. Audiences and musical experts have enthusiastically applauded them: not only for their musical achievements but also for exemplifying the effectiveness of a family working together in harmony.
"The Borowsky Family made us aware of the value of music in society. We applaud their extraordinary artistry. They are an exemplary role model for families everywhere.” (Tianjin Times, China)
The musical talents of this family have been nurtured and encouraged under the guidance of Charles Borowsky and Cecylia Barczyk-Borowsky.
Charles is a noted social scientist who has utilized the arts to build bridges among people and nations. In 2010 he received the Paderewski Award for Distinguished Contributions to Society and Culture.
Cecylia has achieved international recognition as a complete artist, successful teacher, and humanitarian. She has given concerts, recitals, and master classes throughout Europe, Asia, North and South America and has appeared as a soloist with prominent orchestras in over 80 countries. She has frequently performed on radio and television and has recorded much of the standard and new cello literature with leading labels .
It’s hardly surprising that Charles and Cecylia’s love of music inspired their three children to pursue musical careers.
Elizabeth, Emmanuel, and Frances began performing at an early age and have accrued an impressive list of professional achievements and awards. In 2004, they received the Erick Friedman Prize for Outstanding Young Musicians and performed their New York debut at Carnegie Hall. In the Summer of 2008, the Rhein-Neckar Kulturstiftung of Germany granted them a three-month residency at the Dilsberg Castle in Germany. They currently enjoy a vibrant performing career, and have performed together and individually in over 35 countries. They have composed several works for piano trio, and recently performed the Beethoven Triple Concerto with the Young German Symphony Orchestra during their U.S. Concert Tour.
The Borowsky’s were invited to perform in China in celebration of the 2008 Beijing Olympics; concerts were themed “One World, One Dream, One Family.” They toured Vietnam and Ukraine on the invitation of the Minstry of Culture. In 2010, they performed numerous concerts in honor of the bicentennial of Frederic Chopin's birth, under the auspices of the American Tribute to Chopin Consortium, Kosciuszko Foundation, and Embassy of the Republic of Poland. Most recently (March and April) they performed a series of recitals and concerts in Lithuania and Estonia.
Each summer, the Borowsky family teaches and performs together at The International Music Institute and Festival USA, a summer program they founded to nurture, develop, and showcase talented young musicians.
